Recipes

Okay, so I am not a chef, but I like to think I can make a PBJ sandwich. While I don't cook extensively I do come across recipes that seem worth a shot. The purpose of this section is to put up tasty stuff I have made and plan to make in the near feature. While not exactly the same caliber as Top Chef, I prefer straight forward dishes that are high in protein with moderate carbs and low fat. I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Okay so first up.

1. Frogmore Stew (no it does not have frogs)

So this is a tasty recipe I picked up from Runner's World. The recipe was written by Pam Anderson (Chef and marathon runner). This is a yummy dish that incorporates some of my favorite food groups: Potatoes, shrimp, corn, and potatoes. It is easy to make and requires minimal preparations. I pretty much used the ingredients as listed. I really enjoyed the dish as it was not too strong and the corn (which I love) picked up a nice lemon zest to it. The Wifey also approved so that is a bonus.
My "masterpiece"
(2) medium onions peeled and quartered
(4) Garlic cloves smashed
(1) lemon that is halved
(1/2) cup seafood seasoning and salt as needed
(2) pounds of small red potatoes
(2) 2 pounds of turkey kielbasa cut into small pieces *I used chicken sausage which was tasty
(8) half corns
(2) pound shrimp

Directions: Use a large pot and add 3 quarts of water. Add the onions, garlic, seasoning, salt, and lemon halves squeezing the juice in then throw in the halves. From here on it, just use medium heat until a boil. Once this occurs, add the potatoes along with the sausage. Boil for 20 minutes with either foil or a partial covered top. After the 20 mins throw in the corn and stew for another 5 minutes until the corn is tender. Final step is to throw in some shrimp and cook for another 3-5 minutes. Once this is done turn of heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Taste test: I liked this one and will definitely cook again in the future. I may add some mussels to the mix to give it more flavor and I also like them as well.
